Description
KRATOS RESCUE/ EVACUATION LADDER WITH INTEGRATED BELAY SYSTEM
The purpose of this rescue ladder is to offer a quick rescue solution to to a fall victim who if capable can climb the ladder to safety.
This portable rolled-up Rescue Ladder is deployed if a person falls over the edge of a structure whilst connected to a Work restraint or Fall arrest system but retains consciousness and body movement.
Keeping a Rescue ladder near the location of exposed leading edges can provide a much faster method of bringing the faller back to onto the structure than assembling a full Rescue kit with a winch and Rescue Pole.
It also put’s the rescuer at less risk from also falling when trying rescue the faller from a temporary anchor point over an exposed edge.
This Rescue Ladder should be integrated into the Work Restraint System if possible.
If it is impractical to keep the ladder permanently attached to an anchor point or horizontal lifeline, it should be kept in the working area for fast implementation in a fall event.
The Rescue ladder is fixed to an anchor point ( EN795 compliant) using the sewn in sling and karabiner.
This can be a Horizontal Lifeline but allowance has to be made for the Lifeline to flex under load. If possible the Rescue ladder should be connected directly to an Anchor that is embedded or permanently fixed into the structure .
This diagram is a typical rescue implementing the Rescue Ladder attached directly to a fixed anchor point.
The anchorage point should be positioned as close as possible to the faller and if it can be moved within reach, the faller, if conscious and capable can climb to safety.
The ladder can also be used by another person to reach an unconscious faller.
