SAFETY LANYARDS FOR WORK RESTRAINT, WORK POSITIONING AND FALL ARREST
FIXED LENGTH RESTRAINT LANYARDS
An operator of an Ariel Platform or MEWP will wear a Safety Harness and a Restraint Lanyard attached to an Anchor Point on the machines guardrail. The length of the lanyard will have been chosen will be adjusted to keep the Operator safely within the platform.
ADJUSTABLE WORK RESTRAINT LANYARDS
This Lanyard offers more flexibility to anyone working in Restraint because it allows the user to adjust the lanyard to the required length. Versatile from 1.2 to 2 metres.
FALL ARREST LANYARDS
Fall Arrest is the form of fall protection which involves the safe stopping of a person who is already falling, in other words, the system stops a worker’s fall that has already occurred.
Fall Arrest Lanyards are designed to protect the fall victim by decelerating the rate of the fall.They are fitted with a shock absorber pack ( decelerator ) that In the event of a fall, will deploy, reducing the force on the faller to 6kN.
They should be connected to an Anchor that is positioned above the user’s head.
Fall Arrest Lanyards are commonly used for scaffolding erection and dismantling.
TWIN LEG LANYARDS
A Twin-Leg Lanyard is a Y-Shaped lanyard made in Fall Arrest and Work Restraint variants.
Twin-Leg lanyards are used when erecting or dismantling scaffolding or falsework structures or when working on open edges between anchor points.
They allow the user to move between anchor points without being unattached to one.
ADJUSTABLE WORK POSITIONING LANYARD
An Adjustable Work Positioning Lanyard is a connecting device connected between an anchor point or horizontal lifeline ( running-line). when used in a Temporary Work Restraint System.
An Adjustable work positioning lanyard is used when the distance from Anchor point to work area is greater than two metres which is the maximum length of a Work restraint lanyard.
Adjustable work positioning lanyards are manufactured in 5 mtr. 10 mtr and 20 metres lengths, the longer versions being used mainly on large industrial roof spaces.
The main benefit of using an Adjustable work positioning lanyard is the adjustment device, known as a Rope grab which allows the person using it to adjust the length of the rope easily by pressing the grab handle which when released grips the rope allowing restraint.
