A properly tethered tool or object protects those working around and below you if it is accidentally dropped.
A Tool Lanyard acts as a connecting device between the tool or object and the anchor point which allows their use whilst maintaining an attachment that will arrest their fall if they are accidentally dropped when in use.
KEY FEATURES
Compact Coiled Tool Lanyard- ideal for working in small spaces or in MEWP’s.
Connectors : Double acting karabiners with 10mm gate opening.
COMPONENT DETAILS
This RGTL14 Coil Tool Tether is suitable for hand tools and objects up to 3kg in weight.
It is made from a stainless steel coil coated with an extra thick PU coating that provides resilience over sharp edges and withstands heat.
The main benefit of using a coil lanyard as opposed to an elasticated bungee type is its compactness when not in use, it doesn’t trail so is unlikely to catch against other objects.
The Coil is combined with a lightweight swivel carabiner at each end that allows full rotational action to further prevent tangling and undue strain when in use.
Coil tool lanyard’s are fitted with lightweight swivel double action karabiners which close and lock automatically to prevent tools and objects from falling out of them. They also avoid twists in the lanyard when using pliers and screwdrivers which require rotation.
SafetyRespect Tool Lanyards carry unique Serial numbers and load rating.
Coil Lanyards are generally used for hand tools so its practical for the user to attach them to their wrist using a Wrist Strap (Product code RGTA4).as illustrated below.
This photo illustrates a typical application for a Coiled Tool Lanyard connected to the User’s wrist with a Wrist Strap and connected to a pair of Pliers.
A Connection Point has been made on the Pliers using a Dee-Ring and Tool Tethering Tape.
FREEFALL DISTANCE
If the tool or object connected to this Tool Lanyard is dropped it will be allowed to free fall 1650mm so the user needs to ensure that there is no one working inside the fall distance.
Match the weight rating: Always confirm your tool’s weight is within the Tool Lanyard’s `load-rating. Overloading is a primary cause of failure.
Inspect regularly: Before every use, check the Tool Lanyard’s webbing, stitching, and connectors for any cuts, tears, corrosion, or damage.
Check the connection: Use a Tool Lanyard with a locking carabiner or a barrel lock to ensure a secure connection that won’t accidentally disengage.
Connect to a reliable anchor: Attach the Tool Lanyard to a solid anchor point on your person (such as a work belt or harness loop-max. 3kg) or a fixed structure.
